Ralph Waldo Emerson, a famous essayist, once stated that ‘the Earth laughs in flowers.’ This statement couldn’t be further from the truth and what better place for the Earth to laugh than in gardens.
Gardens are heavenly. They bring life to barren land in the most beautiful colors Mother Nature can produce. This is especially true in your home garden. By creating a garden on your own land, you will not only learn the craft of maintaining a garden, but you can use it to have some fun activities too. Let’s take a look at some cool things you can do in your garden without getting your hands dirty.
1. Watch Birds
Bird watching is a favorite pastime for many gardeners. If you have a garden with appropriate bird feeders filled with various types of bird food, a water bath, and a nest box or two, you have the perfect destination for birds to come and enjoy themselves. This makes it the ideal place for you to watch birds in the most natural way possible. We recommend that you find some binoculars for birding to help you watch them up close. Most people who birdwatch on a regular basis can tell you what interesting creatures birds are and how much fun it is to watch them eat, drink, wash, and rest.
2. Go Camping
You don’t need to go to the mountains or the woods to go camping – make use of your own garden. In order to prepare for a great camping experience outside your own home, make sure you have a tent that you can securely set up and sleeping bags to sleep in. To make this experience as ‘outdoor’ as possible, create a small fireplace with the help of a fire pit – this will be great for making s’mores! You can hang cable lights and lanterns to give the camping more atmosphere. And on the upside, no bears will steal your food.
3. Paint
If you have an artist inside you, then why not bring him or her out by painting the beauty of your garden? You can paint everything from trees to flowers to birds to butterflies. And you never know what inspiration you’ll discover when painting in such a peaceful and beautiful environment.
4. Have a Picnic
Picnics were popular in the good old days and for all the right reasons too. You don’t need to go to a park to hold a picnic, you can do it in your very own garden surrounded by your beautiful flowers, shrubs, and trees. Take a bed sheet and spread it out in an open space in the garden; you can take some pillows and cushions with you as well to make the sitting place more comfortable. Next, bring all the food you can and don’t forget the eating utensils and plates. Call up your friends and neighbors and have a nice picnic lunch with some music.
Gardens are not just to be enjoyed at a distance or to cut flowers in. All of your hard work can be used for relaxation and inspiration, too!
