15 Ways I Made My Home Easier to Maintain

Making your home feel new and fresh does not always require a full renovation or an expensive redecorating project. In fact, some of the most significant transformations can come from small changes that are not just affordable, but are also easy to implement. Today, I’ll share my personal experience of 15 small changes that had a big impact on my home.

These steps helped me to breathe new life into my living space, making it feel clean, comfortable, and invigorating. I am hoping that these tips will inspire you to create your own fresh and welcoming space without breaking the bank.

1. Clear the clutter

One of the most effective ways to make a noticeable change in your home is to simply clear away the clutter. It’s amazing how much more open and refreshing a space can look with just a little bit of tidying up. Start by organizing and eliminating unnecessary items in your living area. The less cluttered your space is, the more comfortable and relaxing it will feel. Plus, with fewer items in sight, your mind will feel less cluttered too.

I started with small areas like coffee tables and countertops, clearing away old magazines, unwanted mail, and random knickknacks. I sorted through my items, donating or throwing away things I didn’t need, and organizing the rest in stylish storage bins. The result was a clean, organized space that felt instantly more refreshing.

2. Freshen up the paint

A fresh coat of paint can do wonders for a room. It’s a relatively inexpensive update that can completely transform the look and feel of your space. You can choose a bright, energetic color for a lively vibe, or opt for a calming, neutral tone for a more relaxing atmosphere.

I chose a soft, neutral gray for my living room and it made a huge difference. The new color made the room feel brighter and more open. Plus, the process of painting was actually quite therapeutic and rewarding. Don’t underestimate the power of a fresh coat of paint!

Adding plants to your home not only adds a touch of nature and freshness, but it also helps to purify the air. Choose plants that are easy to care for, like succulents or snake plants, if you’re new to plant care. If you have a green thumb, consider adding a variety of plants for a lush, vibrant feel.

I started with a few small succulents on my coffee table and a large snake plant in the corner of my living room. The greenery added a fresh, lively vibe to the room and I loved caring for the plants. Plus, the snake plant is known for its air-purifying qualities, so it was a win-win!
